Here is a great idea to try the next time you have a pile of 2 x 4 scraps you don't want to toss or burn at your next bonfire.

To make these simply glue up 2 or 3 pieces of 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 you have.
Use a bandsaw to cut out a hole in the middle.
You can also use one of these giant forstner bits.
Cut off a strip that is about 3/8 thick, this will be the bottom you glue on after you cut out the center.
Next start adding facets or faces with a bandsaw or a handsaw. Use a sander to get the facets clean.
Finish with boiled linseed oil, tung oil or stain if you prefer darker
