Farmhouse Coffee Table Free Plans

Build this Farmhouse-style coffee table with just a few simple tools and some standard Home Depot Lumber.

If you are new to woodworking and want a simple project you can build without any fancy joinery that looks great and you can easily do in a weekend look no further.

A table saw is recommended to rip the final piece on the bottom shelf but you could also space the boards out so there is an even reveal all across the bottom.

Tools needed:

Step by Step

Step 1:

Cut all components excluding the cross supports that go across the legs,

Those will be 19 7/16 but it is better to wait until the side component is assembled and then make a pencil line where the cut should be, this way you can sneak up on the cut and get a nice tight fit.

Step 2:

You can assemble the sides using screws going straight in or if you have a pocket hole jig you can use that as well.

Step 3:

Attach the runners that connect the two sides

Step 4:

You can add the X supports now. The best way to do this is to strike a line for the angle and cut one side, dry fit, and draw another pencil line and with the same angle take off little by little until you get a nice snug fit.

Once you have both pieces you can use them to mark a line on your x piece and cut with a hand saw 1/2 the thickness of the board. Use a chisel to take out the waste.

Step 5:

Add the 3/4 in strips on the bottom runners so that 3/4 is left to the top of the runner. Then cut all the bottom shelf pieces and rip the last one down to width to make it fit.

Attach from the bottom with nails or screws.

Step 6:

Attach the top boards with screws from underneath.

Sand to 120 grit and finish with stain or just oil.

If you are going to stain the top it would be advisable to stain it before attaching to the body.
